The Orchestra that consists of young musicians educated at the Barenboim-Said Music Centre is the flagship of the foundation in Ramallah. Formed in 2015, the Orchestra presented concerts in Ramallah, Jerusalem, Bethlehem conducted by internationally renowned conductors

 

Eugeniy Chevkenov started studying the violin at the age of six. He has won numerous international awards and has performed as a soloist and conductor in nearly 40 countries worldwide in prestigious halls such as Carnegie Hall / New York, Musikverein and Konzerthaus / Vienna. Since 2014 chairman of the Culture Committee of Vienna Economic Forum. Founder and music director of Ensemble Concertante Vienna.

Bakr Khleifi a young Palestinian musician born in Jerusalem and studied in Ramallah, Tel Aviv and Gothenburg receiving further artistic impulses in New York and Europe. Has already performed in prestigious venues around the world after becoming member of Barenboim’s West Eastern Divan Orchestra at the early age of twelve. He plays the Oud at an early age of seven. He also plays the Double Base.  On his Oud he presented many concerts in Palestine and in Europe in which he performed a rich and colourful journey showcasing male and female composers from Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Palestine and Turkey. The versatile artist plays the oud and the double bass and virtuously shifts between the classical, contemporary and traditional music world. Bakr’s inspiring performances incorporated a variety of musical styles and rhythms and takes you on a journey across different centuries and regions.   He premiered his first own composition at the Willy Brandt Centre in Jerusalem in June 2018.
